Abstract

In student-teacher relationship, role modeling of the clinical teachers has frequently been identified as a strategy to promotion of professional development of students and their learning. The aim of current study was to explore the experiences of nursing students and teachers concerning role modeling in clinical education.

In this qualitative content analysis study, nine bachelor nursing students and eight clinical teachers in school of Nursing and Midwifery were selected through purposive sampling. Data were gathered and analyzed through semi-structured interviews and conventional content analysis. Analysis was done through the coding, abstraction and creating categories. Also, the MAXqda software was used for managing data.

Two major categories were emerged from the data. These include teacher’s role modeling at bedside and relationship training. Results showed that the role modeling by the clinical teachers especially in relationship behaviors and ethical aspects was identified as a helping strategy to development of relationship.
